My observations of everyday moments inspire my art- the intertwining of plants in my garden, the flight of a bird, a leaf spiraling down, reflections on water, first morning light, the changes of season. I observe as well the events in the world and the images they evoke.
Each painting pairs the vision in my mind’s eye with my emotions and uses the interplay of light, color and shape to express and capture the essential qualities of a reflective moment.
I work in acrylic on linen, board, and high-grade archival paper. According to what I am trying to achieve, the paint is applied in spontaneous brush strokes or multiple layers, by brush and/or palette knife.
I studied Fine and Studio Art, and Horticulture in the United States at Colby College, Waterville, Maine, the Portland School of Art, Portland, Maine, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison where I received a Bachelor of Science in Art degree. An American, I moved to Belgium in 2008 where I currently reside.
